Yoni Avital

Yoni Avital spent his formative years growing up on a moshav in the Ayalon Valley of Israel and in Brooklyn, New York. He has worked with many predominant Jewish organizations such as The Jewish Agency, WZO, The JDC, Taglit-Birthright Israel and the Alexander Muss High School in Israel. He has spent numerous years as a dynamic leader and music director at Camp Ramah and has been an active leader on countless Taglit-Birthright Israel trips. Before Yoni returned to Israel, he led and managed the Jewish ethnic-fusion band, From Fez with whom he's performed for communities and celebrations throughout New York City.

As the grandson of Rabbi Abraham Feldbin of Brooklyn, New York, Yoni Avital's roots come from a mixture of both sephardic and ashkenazi backgrounds as well as a rich lineage of artists, musicians, chazzanim and rabbis. His father's family immigrated to Israel from Casablanca, Morocco in the mid-1950's and his mother's immigrated to the United States from the cities of Slonim and Minsk in Belarus in the early 20th century.

To this day, Yoni continues to be a performer, chazzan, singer, educator and dynamic leader, bringing vitality to Jewish communities in multicultural and pluralistic settings across Israel and around the world. Having recently returned to Israel following almost two decades away, Yoni has made aliyah as a katin chozer and now resides in Kibbutz Ga'aton in the Western Galilee of Israel.

His world travels have led him to performances in Jewish and secular communities, venues and events in India, Nepal, Australia, Southeast Asia, Central, North and South America and all across Europe. Yoni also holds degrees in psychology and music from Rutgers University and is currently a graduate student at The University of Haifa's International Executive MBA Program.
